20th - Washington State University's Regents Scholarship Nomination Consideration
Each fall Yelm High School is given the opportunity to nominate 2 seniors for the WSU Regents Scholarship. This scholarship is $4,000/year for 4 years.
To be considered for a nomination, students must:
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.8
- Complete the WSU Regents Scholarship Form no later than Oct. 20th.
Our team would like to consider students who have demonstrated academic excellence while balancing balancing responsibilities in their home and communities.

AND - Planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study for the 2026-2027 academic year at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, or vocational-technical school or CEGEP institution
- Be involved in community service, extracurricular activities and/or a leadership role in the twelve (12) months prior to application deadline (for example, volunteering for non-profits, helping others less fortunate, tutoring/mentoring, etc.)
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent)
- Be willing to participate in Chick-fil-A’s Scholars Program (a one-year experience of mentoring, activities, and professional development), if selected.
- *Applicants are NOT required to be citizens or permanent residents of either country. Individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) and international students attending college in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada are eligible to apply.
Awards
If selected as a Chick-fil-A Community Scholar, the student will be granted up to a $25,000 award. Up to thirteen (13) awards will be granted. Recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in a one-year leadership development program facilitated by Chick-fil-A, Inc., which includes mentoring and professional development opportunities.

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Hagan Scholars have attended 745 colleges and universities located in 50 states and the District of Columbia and have studied abroad in 58 countries.
The deadline to apply is December 1st. Scholarships awarded April 2026.
Eligibility (for full details, see website):
1. Must attend a high school located in the United States.
2. All high school students are eligible regardless of nationality or citizenship.
3. Must have achieved an unweighted 3.50 CGPA based on a 4.0 Grading Scale.

5. FAFSA information is not required to apply
6. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2026 until September 1, 2026. Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation. Employment can be full-time or part-time.
7. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2024 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $100,000.
8. After college graduation, recipients can apply for a Hagan Graduate Scholarship.

Details/Criteria:
The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is a unique opportunity for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students to advance their education and jumpstart their careers. SMART scholarship recipients receive full tuition, annual stipends, summer internships, and after graduation, civilian employment with the Department of Defense.
- Be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or United Kingdom
- Be 18 years of age or older by January 1, 2027
- Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be currently pursuing, or intend to pursue in fall 2026, a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in a SMART STEM discipline (HS seniors ARE eligible)

The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. The Coolidge may be used by recipients at any accredited American college or university. Anyone of any background, pursuing any academic discipline of study, may apply to this non-partisan, need-blind, program.
- 2025-26 Coolidge Scholarship applicants must intend to enroll full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university as an undergraduate for the first time in fall 2027. That is to say, students in their junior year of high school, or the equivalent if home schooled, are eligible to apply. (Students who are currently high school juniors but take some courses at a local college are indeed eligible to apply for the Coolidge Scholarship.)
- 2025-26 Coolidge Scholarship applicants must be citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States of America by the 2025-26 scholarship deadline.
- 2025-26 Coolidge Scholarship applicants cannot be the immediate family member of any current employee, trustee, or significant donor to the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation or the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Fund. 20th - Boeing High School Summer Student Development Program

The Boeing Company, partner of the Center of Excellence, has announced details of their 2026 Student Development Programs, perfect for Washington State high school and community college students interested in building skills for future careers in aerospace.
Boeing’s Manufacturing Student Development Programs are designed to provide students with a comprehensive experience, including hands-on training, job site exposure and career planning support.
Students will have the opportunity to build real-world manufacturing experience that’s paid, on-site and hands-on. All programs include tailored training, factory tours, resume and interview skills workshops and networking with Boeing employees.
Programs begin in June and July of 2026, and roles include Assembly, Toolmaker, Test, Facilities and Mechatronics. Skills in these roles can include blueprint reading, precision measurement, lean manufacturing, safe tool use, problem solving maintenance and more!

- The Army Women's Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program provides grants to women soldiers, past and present, and their lineal descendants to help them attain their educational goals.
- Applicant must be a woman who has served or is serving honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard or the lineal descendant of a woman who has served or is serving honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard. If there is any evidence that the applicant or the applicant’s ancestor did not serve honorably, the application will not be considered. Eligibility requirements are non-negotiable, and appropriate evidence of Army service must be provided (e.g. DD214, discharge papers, letter from commander, etc.)
- Selection of the Legacy Scholarship recipient(s) is made by a Scholarship Committee appointed by the Board of Directors of the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation. Each scholarship category (certificate, community college, undergraduate, and graduate) will be evaluated and considered separately by the Scholarship Committee, which will also determine the number of scholarships awarded for each category and the amount of each scholarship. Army women will be considered in one group, and the lineal descendants of Army women will be considered in a separate group. In this way, peers will compete with their peers.
Scholarship recipients are eligible to compete in subsequent years and may receive a total of two awards except for the Graduate Program. - The scholarship funds may be used to assist with tuition, fees, books, and school-documented room and board. Scholarships are awarded only to students attending accredited institutions.

College Success Foundation’s Governor’s Scholarship is a program providing current and former foster youth financial support through their higher educational journey. This scholarship is open to Washington State high school seniors and current college students that meet eligibility criteria.
What the scholarship provides:
- A $2,000 - $4,000 scholarship annual award that is renewable up to 5 years
- One-on-one coaching and support from College Success Foundation staff
- A supportive peer network; and
- Opportunities to engage in internship opportunities
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for the Washington State Governors’ Scholarship, students must:

Yelm Dollars for Scholars (DFS) is a local scholarship program created for Yelm Community students and is run by Yelm Community volunteers.
- All graduating seniors from Yelm High School, Yelm Extension School and Yelm Homeschooled students who are registered with Yelm HS are eligible to apply!
- Students can start their applications at any time, but the submission deadline for seniors is the last day of February each year.
- The application is online. Seniors must also complete an interview in the spring in order to be considered for scholarships.

Congressional Art Competition for high schooler - opens in March
Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District. The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students living in Washington's 10th Congressional District. The winning artwork of the Congresswoman's district competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The winning artwork is featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page and the winning artist will be offered the opportunity to attend a Celebration Ceremony in Washington, D.C. More information will be sent in March of 2026.

This initiative is hosted by Congresswoman Strickland’s office to recognize and celebrate middle and high school students who demonstrate excellence in scientific research, innovation, and community problem-solving. Students submit projects they have already created for any STEM program (science fair, academic carnival, or any other STEM-related project), and a panel of volunteer judges, including educators, STEM professionals, and community leaders will evaluate submissions. Projects will be evaluated for their innovation and community impact. One winner from each category (middle, and high school) is honored during a ceremony with the Congresswoman, where their work is highlighted to the broader community. This scholarship provides financial assistance to PSE members who wish to enhance their skills or pursue additional educational goals. Scholarships are awarded based on many factors, including financial need, academic achievement, leadership and service.
Applicants for PSE scholarship awards must meet the following requirements:
• Be a PSE member in good standing.
• Plan to enroll or participate in the educational opportunity at an accredited institution within a 12-month period beginning June 2026. This is an incredible opportunity for Washington students pursuing education in high-demand fields like health care, STEM, and trades.
CTS provides up to $1,500 per quarter, every quarter, for tuition, tools, and other costs, plus additional funding for rural students through the Rural Jobs Initiative (RJI).
- Must be a Washington resident.
- Must complete the FAFSA or WASFA
- Have a family income (adjusted gross income plus all untaxed income) that does not exceed 125% of Washington state median family income based on family size.

- The Yelm Community Education Foundation (YCEF) will be awarding multiple scholarships.
- Yelm High School and Yelm Extension School graduating seniors who will be attending community college, tech school, a career college or 4-year schools are eligible to apply.
- Two of the scholarships will be awarded to students going into Education or an Education related field, but all applicants will be considered if no Education majors apply.

1st - SGT Justin D Norton Memorial Scholarship
Description:
Sgt Justin Dean Norton, 21, was born in Olympia Washington on October 30, 1984. He grew up in Rainier, Washington and graduated with honors from Rainier High School in 2003.
Justin fulfilled his dream of joining the Army in April 2003 as a 19D, Cavalry Scout. He attended Basic and Advanced Training at Ft Knox, Kentucky. He was then assigned to the Alpha Troop “Apaches”, 1-10 Cavalry, 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. Justin was quickly promoted to SGT because of the high standards of excellence and leadership abilities he possessed.
He deployed to Iraq in November 2005. Sgt Justin Norton was tragically killed in action by an Improvised Explosive Device while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraq on June 24, 2006.
Upon the death of our Hero, a scholarship fund was set up in his name, this was one of his requests if he did not return from Iraq.
The SGT Justin Norton Memorial Scholarship Fund application contains a variety of questions to help the scholarship selection committee decide which Rainier High School Seniors will qualify for the scholarship. This one-time scholarship is valid for up to one year after the date of graduation and will be paid directly to the institution you choose to attend.

- Have at least 50 hours of community service
- Plan on attending a 2 year tech/trade school or 4 year college or university

- The Preferred Scholarships offered through Dollars for Scholars are now available.
- If you applied for the General DFS scholarship that was due on Feb. 28th, all you have to do is log back into your account and click on the 'search for scholarships' button again on your 'My Scholarships' page.
- You may match to some of these additional scholarships based on meeting the scholarship criteria. For the scholarships you match to, you will have to answer a few more easy questions. Remember to hit that Apply button for each scholarship you match to!
- If you did not apply to the general scholarship, you CAN still apply for these! You will need to complete your application by following the directions on the Yelm Dollars for Scholars website. Mrs. Mathis in the YHS Career Center is also available if you need help.
